On this program Emmy-Award-winning host Steve Adubato examines
what is being done to strengthen the skills of those who lead
our nonprofit and philanthropic institutions as he talks with
the Co-Directors for the Center for Nonprofit and Philanthropic
Leadership at Rutgers Business School. They will take a comprehensive
look at the current state of corporate and foundation giving,
as well as the many challenges facing today’s nonprofit
executives. The program will also bring public attention to
the Center for Nonprofit and Philanthropic Leadership’s
goal of strengthening nonprofits and their ability to survive
and grow in this difficult philanthropic environment.
A more competitive business environment, less money available
to support growing needs of nonprofits, as well as the fact
that current CEOs are approaching retirement are all contributing
to the need for solid leadership at nonprofits. The complexity
of technology and communication continues to grow. With
thousands of nonprofits created every year nationwide, the
nonprofit and for profit competition is becoming fierce.
The Center offers several different services, including
consulting, education and training to help leaders run successful
businesses. The focus is on the leaders. The Center is even
encouraging partnerships among nonprofits to increase their
chances of survival and success. At the Center, they believe
nonprofit organizations help create a more civil society—and
good leadership drives an organization to excellence.
Guests:
James Abruzzo, a nonprofit researcher and educator and Alex
Plinio, President and CEO of the largest nonprofit international
student exchange program in the country.
