On this program, we talk with Dr. Anthony D’Urso,
a professor from Montclair State University’s Department
of Psychology. Dr. D’Urso is a leading expert on child
welfare who headed up the New Jersey Task Force on Child
Abuse and Neglect investigating DYFS. He also serves as
Chair of the Child Fatality and Near Fatality Review Board.
He discusses the situation New Jersey is facing regarding
child abuse and neglect, including the state of child welfare
organizations.
In a second segment, we talk with Dennis C. Miller, President
and CEO of Somerset Medical Center. Dennis has served as
CEO since 2000, and during his tenure, he has led a complete
financial turn-around, advancing from a $6 million operating
loss in 1999 to a $4 million projected surplus in 2002.
He discusses how running an independent hospital is different
than a hospital system and the challenges and rewards of
serving a community.
