congestion is a problem that people face every day. This
program examines new technologies and smart public policy
aimed at keeping New Jersey moving. The quality of New Jersey’s
transportation systems has a direct relationship to both
the quality of life enjoyed by its residents and the vitality
of its economy. This half-hour program comprised of panel
of experts from academia, the Port Authority of New York
and New Jersey, and the private sector addresses innovative
technology and policy that is helping to alleviate growing
problems of traffic congestion, an aging infrastructure,
environmental concerns, and inadequate freight movement
policies. New technologies that assist ports and aid motorists,
improve pedestrian safety, monitor the condition of bridges
and tunnels, and develop more durable pavement are highlighted.
In addition, anti-terrorist innovations, as well as a training
program for Amtrak employees and freight and commuter railroads
will be considered. The panel explores these scientific
breakthroughs, as well as policy initiatives such as economic
development, land use, political governance, finance and
social policy that impact the safety and security of the
state’s transportation systems.
