If you ask most women what their number one health risk
is, they'll probably tell you it's breast cancer. And while
breast cancer is a serious health concern, it is heart disease
that is the number one killer of men and women. Many women
don't take their risk of heart disease seriously and often
fail to make the connection between risk factors, such as
smoking, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol, and
their own chance of developing heart disease. This program
is designed to raise women's awareness of their risks for
heart disease and to explain the differences between male
and female experiences with the disease. The program examines
the signs, symptoms, risk factors, treatment and prevention
options and explores the different experiences women have
from men during a heart attack. The role of stress, diet,
exercise, lifestyle, and hormone replacement therapy play
in heart disease will also be addressed.
