Show #2270
Original Airdate: 2/13/10

Description

For a variety of reasons, individuals undergoing medical treatment may object to receiving blood or blood products.   To accommodate these patients, some hospitals are offering a wide range of technologies designed to minimize blood loss and maximize the oxygen carrying capabilities of the blood.  This half-hour panel discussion centers upon comprehensive strategies that manage patient blood and blood products to improve patient outcomes. The panel explores how this initiative, which is gaining increased attention from the global medical community, seeks to reduce the risks and costs associated with blood transfusion by providing effective alternatives.
