As
many as 1.5 million Americans are believed to have some
form of autism, and that number is on the rise. But for
those diagnosed today, there are more treatment options
than ever before. On this installment, we look at this devastating
disorder. The program looks at the challenge of dealing
with the spectrum of the illness, diagnosis and treatments,
potential causes, the recent influx of non-traditional treatments,
the impact on the family and lack of services for the autistic
who are age 21 and over. The panel includes physicians,
researchers, and parents of autistic children.
