On this half-hour program, the panel explores what motivates individuals to participate in state, local, and community governance and the consequences of the public’s lack of involvement. Factors to consider include the need for civics education beginning in grammar school, what issues are the most galvanizing, the role of political parties in fostering participation by underrepresented populations, and the consequences of inaction.
